Does the cheaper option make TN eligibility easier for a Charlottetown applicant?

THE DIRECT ANSWER

Price is not the TN professional eligibility test.

Separate cost from requirements

Review actual duties, citizenship and qualifications, then compare government charges, professional scope and household costs. A low financial commitment does not establish a qualifying arrangement.

Hypothetical example: an actuary comparing an employer-funded move with a separate plan to acquire a small analytics practice. Make a dated ledger distinguishing government charges, credential costs, travel, relocation, refundable deposits, and money reserved for another proposal. The professional category is decided by the offered employment, not by the applicant’s savings or a possible acquisition. Check the official fee page immediately before payment and keep payment confirmations with the submitted version of the file. The practical choice is whether the household can accept the employment plan on its own terms without treating unused reserves as evidence of qualification.

TN remains tied to a real, prearranged professional engagement. The applicant needs Canadian or Mexican citizenship, a listed occupation, and the particular education, licence, or other qualification the entry requires. A Canadian national can request classification at an inspection location; where appropriate, the employer can instead use Form I-129 through USCIS. The category does not permit the applicant to operate their own U.S. business as self-employment.

Use records created closest to the event: signed agreements, payroll or bank evidence, corporate records, licences, civil documents, and dated correspondence. A careful review identifies what each record proves and what it does not prove. Do not solve a factual gap by copying a favourable label from another route. Make the next decision only after the missing fact is either documented, changed, or plainly described as unresolved.
