PROGRAMME BRIEFING · CORNWALLCornwall

A new route.Know the details.

A Charlottetown couple considering Gold Card should identify the actual applicants, relationships and financial obligations before treating it as a household solution. The current official framework uses a nonrefundable processing fee and, after successful vetting and official instructions, a gift to the U.S. government. It is a program framework rather than a conventional standalone visa category; eligible successful applicants receive permanent residence through EB-1 or EB-2, subject to applicable eligibility, admissibility and visa availability. The gift is not an EB-5 investment, and every term must be re-verified on the official site before any money moves. The Gold Card is not a conventional visa and should not be presented as an automatic residence result. Under the stated framework, the payment is made by the applicant to the U.S. government, subject to official instructions, vetting, and applicable immigrant-category conditions. A private package description, payment agent, or family budget does not change who pays or what the government must determine.

IN THIS GUIDE · Compare the couple’s residence objectives with official family terms

01

Identify intended inclusion precisely

Hypothetical example: a couple is comparing residence proposals and assumes one payment arrangement covers everyone on the same terms. Record the actual relationships, ages and intended applicants. A shared objective or commercial package description does not establish individual eligibility. Begin with the current official materials. Identify the proposed applicant, the relevant eligibility path, admissibility questions, payment capacity, and the exact recipient named in the instruction. Save the dated source page and confirmation records. A decision based on an undated social-media claim or a consultant’s invoice is not a reliable substitute for the official process.

02

Verify the current official framework

Use the official FAQ and instructions for applicable individual or corporate terms and family treatment. Identify unresolved obligations before commitments. Do not rely on an older summary or infer family terms from another immigration category. Gold Card is not a conventional standalone visa category: the current official framework uses a nonrefundable processing fee and, after vetting, a gift deposited with the U.S. Treasury as evidence within EB-1 or EB-2. The gift is not an EB-5 investment, and every current term and payment instruction must be re-verified before any money moves. Keep individual and corporate arrangements distinct. The current terms may treat payer, amount, family inclusion, maintenance, and transfer restrictions differently. Do not call the payment an investment, a recoverable deposit, or an EB-5 subscription. The key decision is whether the actual payer and funds match the government’s current requirements before a contract or relocation commitment is signed.

03

Separate gift obligations and investment assets

Gold Card should not be described as an EB-5 investment or recoverable commercial asset. EB-5 has its own capital and job requirements. Compare actual gifts, charges and business risk rather than presenting payment capacity as a complete immigration determination. Timing also needs restraint. A pending request or a completed payment does not itself authorize employment, entry, or early residence. Each spouse or child needs separate review of relationship, age, documentation, and the applicable process. A prudent plan preserves present work and housing options until the government has issued the status or documentation that supports the proposed activity.

04

Plan present activities independently

A proposed gift, consultation or intended future outcome is not permission to work or reside in the United States now. Review each person’s actual status and confirmed process stage. Financial resources do not guarantee approval, visa availability or timing. Protect against payment confusion by verifying the official recipient, exact instruction, and current program language immediately before acting. Retain confirmations showing who paid and where the money went. If a third party claims to collect the amount, pause until that role is confirmed through government materials. A polished private portal is not proof of official authority.

05

Follow the official payment sequence and individual amounts

The September 7, 2026 official terms describe a nonrefundable US$15,000 processing fee per person, followed by vetting and a gift to the U.S. government after successful vetting and official instructions. The principal gift is US$1,000,000 individually or US$2,000,000 corporately. Each eligible joining spouse or unmarried child under 21 adds US$15,000 and a US$1,000,000 gift, including corporate cases. Corporate terms also describe 1% annual maintenance and a 5% transfer charge with a new background check, subject to actual governing conditions, not an automatic reuse right. EB-1 or EB-2 eligibility, admissibility and visa availability remain separate requirements. Keep the immigration analysis separate from the financial transaction. The proposed applicant still needs the applicable eligibility basis, admissibility review, and process completion. Family members may require their own records and timing assessment. The sensible decision is whether to preserve existing lawful work, housing, and travel arrangements until official documentation supports the next step.
